As a first-time bride, I was warned that all the meetings and preparations, while fun, would be stressful at times, to say the least. What I had envisioned of the ceremony was difficult to explain to others, it was a bit unconventional. Nafeesa went above and beyond, she made sure to meet me at the venue to help both understand and facilitate what I had in mind. She was able to keep her calm, diffuse misunderstandings and provide solutions between the venue coordinator and myself. We had several meetings on our own and with my husband about the ceremony itself and she was fully present and available from the very first moment to the last. I felt safe and heard every step of the way – even inspired! She presented many options to choose from, when I was unsure or couldn’t decide between the final two, she would ask me questions and help guide me to my final (happy) decision.
In the end, the ceremony was exactly what we had envisioned. Nafeesa’s ability to reach out to an audience and still create an intimate setting, a feeling of love and unity, was so special and awe inspiring. The poem Nafeesa created for us was beyond what we had expected, and we know her talents so our expectations were very high! The poem was passionate, loving, insightful and even funny. The guests remarked many times how much they enjoyed the whole ceremony but mostly how they loved the poem.
